Many visitors of Audien Hearing have the same question - will Audien Hearing aids work for me? That's why we decided to put together this article and go over the specs of our devices and whether we think they would work for your level of hearing loss.
Whether or not our hearing products work for you depends on a variety of factors. Unlike a TV or a lamp, hearing aids don't just "work" or "not work". They have to meet certain features depending on the user.
The primary indicator of whether an Audien Hearing aid will work for you, is your level of hearing loss.
Will Audien Hearing Work For My Level Of Hearing Loss?
To truly know whether a hearing aid will work for you, you need to understand your hearing loss. Hearing is measured over a frequency of 250 to 8000Hz, which is the overall spectrum of hearing for human beings. Frequency is a measurement of the cycle rate of the sound waveform. Pitch describes how high or low it sounds when you hear it. A higher frequency sound is a higher pitch.
The amount of hearing loss someone has is measured via decibels (dB) or sound intensity. The worse your hearing loss, the higher your decibel threshold is for hearing. For example, someone with mild to moderate hearing loss may only be able to hear sounds at certain frequencies that are more than 40 decibels in sound. As shown on the hearing test, we hear at different at different sound intensities at different frequencies and that makes everyone's hearing like a fingerprint, unique to them.
To see your level of hearing loss at each frequency, try an online hearing test. This will give you an audiogram that maps out your hearing loss. Based on the audiogram, you can have a pretty good idea of what will work for you. Make sure you follow the online instructions and take the test in a quiet environment.
Most people with hearing loss will have audiograms similar to this. It shows that for most higher frequencies, they can only hear sounds at 60-70 decibels or louder.
By adding an Audien EV3 hearing aid, you could add 40-50 decibels of gain to those frequencies, meaning you could hear all sounds that are 20-30 decibels or louder.
Will Audien Hearing Work For Tinnitus?
Tinnitus is a common symptom of hearing loss that causes low to high pitched ringing in the ears. Many people with hearing loss have varying levels of tinnitus.
While Audien Hearing devices cannot technically be used to diagnose, treat, or cure tinnitus, we do have thousands of customers who report improvement and relief of tinnitus from using our products! We've found from experience that for many, a simple hearing aid can help with tinnitus.
We recommend giving our EV1 or EV3 hearing aids a try. The EV1 works on a lower frequency range, so it can amplify lower pitched sounds while avoiding amplification of higher pitched sounds. The EV3 has enhanced sound quality and has had great customer and third party reviews from people with tinnitus.
If one works for you, great! You'll save thousands compared to going the traditional hearing aid route. If they don't, no worries - we will give you a full refund and even recommend you a product from another brand.
Audien EV1 Hearing Aid Specs
Peak Gain(dB): 40dB
Frequency range(Hz) : 300-4500Hz
Charging Time(H): 6~8
Once charge working Time(H): 28h
The EV1 hearing aid has an impressive gain of 40dB. This will be helpful for most people with slight to moderately severe hearing loss. For those with severe to profound hearing loss, the EV1 could still work (many customers report amazing results), but in some cases may require a stronger model.
One thing to consider with the EV1, however, is its frequency - it amplifies sound from lower to mid ranged frequencies, but doesn't for higher frequency sounds.
Audien EV3 Hearing Aid Specs
Frequency Range (Hz): 250-8000Hz
Battery life: 18-22 hours
Peak Gain (dB): 28dB
The EV3 hearing aids offer slightly lower peak decibel gain than the EV1, but it covers sounds over the full spectrum of frequencies. This means that for people with higher frequency hearing loss, the EV3 is going to be a better option, especially if you have tinnitus which can be associated with hearing loss in the higher frequencies.
